Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in vendor selection to ensure the best cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Understand Trijicon mechanical designs in detail.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the R&D Mechanical Engineering and Project Management teams and mechanical contract manufacturers
  • Understand vendor capabilities and take the lead in managing DFM feedback, issues found at the supplier facility, etc.
  • Lead the development and management of processes needed to ensure consistency of Trijicon fabrication packages across all programs.
  • Maintain constant contact with all mechanical suppliers, ensuring schedules and quality levels are maintained.
  • Maintain documentation of engineering action items and meeting minutes
  • Ensure that documentation is maintained and consistent with Trijicon’s ISO System
  • Ensure that all fabrication packages and documentation leaving Trijicon adhere to applicable industry standards, as well as Trijicon internal standards.
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to the investigation and development of designs and manufacturing processes for new products, and improvements to existing products, in accordance with Trijicon’s Quality Operating and Product Development Systems
  • Complete moderately difficult assigned tasks on time with moderate supervision or assistance
  • Assist in development of project objectives, schedules, and specifications
  • Confirm product performance; maintain schedule, design file database, safe and clean working environment
  • Solve moderately complex mechanical manufacturing problems at the component and sub-system level
  • Collaborate with other groups and disciplines within the engineering department, as well as with other departments in the organization.
  • Communicate challenges and successes effectively within the department through design reviews
  • Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes
  • Support Project Management initiatives and meetings from Design Specification through to product launch
  • Ensure seamless transition from prototype to production phases; work hand-in-hand with suppliers and Quality department through product launch
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies related to company products and mechanical manufacturing
  • Support non-mechanical supplied components as necessary
  • Follow written protocols and generate reports
  • Perform moderately difficult tolerance stacks to ensure full functionality
  • Ensure all ISO paperwork is complete at each project milestone

Job Requirements:

  • Provide technical direction to stakeholders as needed
  • Evaluate specifications and requirements for projects and contracts
  • Expert in design and production validation processes
  • Contributes deliverables within the Trijicon Product Development System
  • Provide support to the R&D Mechanical team to obtain critical information from vendors needed to maintain cost, quality, and schedule
  • Expert in relevant mechanical manufacturing standards (e.g. SAE, etc.)
  • Maintains expertise in mechanical manufacturing trends and state-of-the-art processes
  • Ability to read, understand, and check / critique Engineering drawings, blueprints, and mechanical fabrication packages
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance experience or education
  • Conduct onsite supplier visits and reviews for Design and Process Validation
  • Work to oversee supplier corrective actions; assist suppliers in resolving technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of product supply
  • Ability to use to review tolerance stacks, bills of material, or part layouts
  • Basic Microsoft Windows / Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented, creative thinking, problem solving and systematic diagnosis, self-motivated, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills
  • Effectively, interface with employees, customers, visitors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work interdepartmentally in developing specifications, design and analysis documentation, and presentations
  • Hands-on R&D prototyping build skills are beneficial
  • Maintain professional, respectful, and ethical conduct at all times
  • Maintain and project Trijicon’s business image, Vision, Mission, and Values at all times
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies as required
  • Five or more years of mechanical engineering or mechanical quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least three years in a machining fabrication and assembly facility.



  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding, follow detailed and uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete standardized situations.
